Temporary variation of the hydrological behavior in the Dourados river basin

The Dourados river basin is located in the sub-basin of the Ivinhema River, which is inserted in the Paraná River hydrological basin. This is an area of great potential for agricultural development. The increase of the irrigated agriculture and the knowledge of the basin’s hydrological characteristics have a great importance for water user optimization and a minimum environmental impact. This paper presents an analysis of the hydrological behavior in the Dourados river basin, based on data collected in the Porto Wilma station. The variables analyzed were the average annual rainfall, the long-term mean annual stream flow, the maximum annual stream flow, the minimum annual seven-day stream flow, the stream flow associated with 95% of the duration and the outflow coefficient. The results revealed low significances for changes of the maximum and mean stream flow, and the tendency of decrease with the time of the minimum seven day duration stream flow and of the outflow coefficient. Associated to the high significances of those hydrological variables, the results show a clear interference in the Dourados river flow conditions during low precipitation months.
