The use of movie as a strategy for teaching-learning about people with impairments: perception of nursing students

The objective of this study is to construct a strategy for teaching and learning about people with disabilities and to register the perception of nursing graduation students concerning the use of movies as part of the strategy of the teaching-learning process on people with visual, hearing and speech impairments. This is a descriptive, exploratory, qualitative study carried out at the Health Communication Laboratory of the Nursing Department of the Federal University of Ceará, in the first semester 2010. The first theme approached was visual disability, followed by hearing and speech. Associating the use of movies with theoretical contents and texts reading on certain theme was considered a pleasant experience to the students, motivating the learning. The introduction of movies represents an opportunity to review and improve the pedagogic approach and the contents given by the teacher.
