The nurse: knowledge and competence to manage hospitals

As the objective to determine if the nurse has knowledge and competence to manage hospitals, this qualitative investigation has been developed with the sustainment of the strategic theory including the academic category and utilizing the method of studying of case, interviewing four nurses that were general directors of hospitals. Showing clearly that the profile of a nurse has competency that responds to the field of performance characterized by a group of knowledges and practices that permit the realization of a significant work, its holistic vision which makes a professional difference, proved by the humanization upon recognizing in the process of communication between the professional and the subordinate person and the use within the hospital context, associating its administrative abilities considered in his plans and programs of study. Without a doubt, the competences of the nurse answers the expectations required by the institution and the expected contribution of each group.
