Work teams and conditions at the Mental Health Services in Mato Grosso

The work conditions of the CAPS teams are related to the psychosocial attention, which presupposes territoriality, responsibility and a therapeutic link. Objective: We characterized the teams and analyzed some organizational and psycho-social conditionals for the development of the work at the CAPS I of two municipalities of Mato Grosso. A descriptive and qualitative study has been performed in 2008, by means of observation and interviews with 46 subjects (workers, managers and users/family members). The analysis considered the historicity of the social phenomena and the work as an analytic category. The data pointed to a discontent of the workers and the users in relation to the work and attendance conditions, respectively. Among the eighteen professionals of superior level, four were already specialized or were taking specialization courses in the area of mental health. We concluded that, within this context, there are scarce possibilities for the worker to perceive himself/herself as a subject of his/her work and, consequently, to enlarge the user's autonomy and social reinsertion.
