The following research discussed playful activities in nursing care provided to hospitalized adults. The objectives were to describe the concepts of nurses on playful activities in hospital nursing care and discuss the configuration of playful activities in such care. It was a qualitative research developed in a university hospital in the state of Rio Grande do Sul with ten nurses, approved by the Committee for Ethics in Researching. A creative-sensitive method has been applied and the dynamics for creativity and sensitiveness in the data production. The perspective on playful activities opens the possibility for the nurses to go beyond the instituted and transform the quotidian of care by the good environment and mood at talking and acting, making the relationship close, funny, and pleasant. Joy and relaxation are playful expressions that qualify the care and come up in the act of giving care; theyrepresent recovery to the patient's health since they facilitate the interaction, promoting the process of socialization and communication.
