This is a qualitative and descriptive research that aimed to describe and analyze reports of women on harmful alcohol uses. The research was performed in a countryside community of Teresina (PI), data were obtained from semistructured interviews with 10 women in the period from July to October 2009 and was worked through the content analysis. The results showed a hard life path, from childhood permeated by alcohol. The Friendships, living near bars and poor working conditions contribute to the alcohol consumption. They report the purchase of alcohol as priority and recognize the manifestation of this on the organism, influencing the routine and job performance. The health care system must pay attention to this segment, implementing prevention, control and health promotion of women in harmful use of alcohol.
