Historical-social research has as object the trajectory of implantation and consolidation of the Academic Monitoring Program in the UERJ and the Nursing College in the period between 1985 and 2000. OBJECTIVES: To describe the trajectory of implantation of the Monitoring in the UERJ and Nursing College and to analyze the process of consolidation of the Program in the timming clipping of the study. The primary sources had been the existing documents in the Department of Internship and Scholarship - CETREINA, Sirius Net of Library, Rectory of the UERJ and Center of Memory of the FENF/UERJ. The project was approved by the Committee of Ethics of the University Hospital Pedro Ernesto/UERJ. A form was used that was filled by the researchers. The results had evidenced that the Monitoring in the UERJ was created in 1985 and implanted in 1986 in diverse academic units. Throughout its history, the Program passed for different moments that had contributed for its consolidation. The Monitoring presents advances in its structure and its dynamics.
