The object of this study is the permanence of the book "Páginas de História da Enfermagem/História da Enfermagem", in 2001 academic references, celebrating fifty years of the first edition. The objective is to identify a reference made to Waleska Paixão book in the sources mentioned. It's a social historic study as a methodology, from quantitative nature. A bibliographical survey was made in texts and thesis from three pos graduation programs, in the discipline of History of Nursing in the public graduation schools, in Rio de Janeiro and articles with the keyword history of nursing published at REBEN. RESULTS: The analysis shows the citation of the book in only one graduation disciplines program. CONCLUSION: Despite the importance of related book, pioneer in Brazil (1951) the citations are disappearing in the searches references, what it point to the sprouting of new books and sources for the study of the nursing history.
