Pregnancy in adolescence: tendencies in the cientific production of nursing

The pregnancy in adolescents has biological, psychological, social, economic and cultural implications. This exploratory, descriptive, and bibliographic study aimed to identify the issues regarding teenager pregnancy, studying the subject's vulnerability and gender, in the nursing scientific production. Four Brazilians and two Latin American nursing journals indexed from 2002 to 2006 in the Scientific Electronic Library were selected. Of 1,472 items identified, 43 were related with the theme on adolescence, and 12 in Brazil, Cuba and Argentina on teenager pregnancy, whose authors understand the problem, combined with the concepts of subject, vulnerability and gender, in a multidisciplinary approach, intersectoral, anchored in partnerships and social support networks. The teenager's pregnancy is a challenge for public policy and brings to light relevant issues about this problem, providing support to adolescents to live their fully sexuality and with family planning in the health promotion context.
