Adolescent sexuality as a focus for political-educational investment

Youth sexuality has been an object of attention in our society. One of the main focuses of preoccupation and intervention is adolescent pregnancy, which is also recurrently labeled as unwanted, precocious, and not planned. This article reflects about the present discursive explosion regarding this theme, and the way adolescent sexuality has been treated as a social problem, upon which the school is called to intervene. The article analyzes how the sexual conduct of individuals and the population has become an object of analysis and of different medical, pedagogical, political and governmental interventions. Different fields, such as medicine, demography and education fuse themselves in view of regulating adolescent sexuality intending, among other things, to avoid pregnancy, which, in our society, is not understood as an experience to be lived at this time in life.
