BLESS, PRAY AND EDUCATE: PATHWAYS OF an AMAZON CURATOR

Abstract:

The article analyzes the blessing as an educational practice based on the experience of an evangelical curator, whose practice is based on the confrontation of spiritual illnesses and the teaching of therapies. The Quilombo of Abacatal in Pará is the locus of its service, space of circulation of knowledge. Dona Dionéia’s experience reveals the blessing as a premise to think about the educational process on which her practice is based. Theoretically, the article is situated at the interface between education and anthropology. It is characterized as a qualitative study of the ethnographic type under the methodology of oral history. The educational practice of Dona Dionéia mobilizes environmental, medicinal, spiritual and corporal knowledge. Thus, men and women learn from their observation of the ritual of healing, listening to prayers and therapies, imitating the technique of production and (re) creation of the remedy, forming a pedagogy of daily life.
