Brazil - a country under the sign of memory: notes on youth, nation and nationalism

In this article, we aimed to present the results of a study that discussed the relationship between young Brazilians and the meanings of national belonging in their multiplicity and discursive places. Based on the premise that young people in school environments tended to assume an implied devaluation of Brazil and their position as Brazilians, we sought to better understand the ways in which such young people, when mediated by communicative mechanisms proper of their juvenile age, interpreted and resignified this idea of belonging. In this way, with the use of a controlled internet blog, the study aimed to capture changes in the ways of understanding social reality. Our interpretation of their speeches prioritized the understanding of meaning distortions between the elements of political culture constituted under the Brazilian social thought: what is prescribed to be taught in history and what guides the interpretation effort of youth cultures.
