Black transfeminist epistemologies: perspectives and issues for multiple femininities

ABSTRACT

This article aims to discuss black trans epistemologies based on a Brazilian production developed by transfeminist intelectuals. The proposal is to reflect about an emergent field of knowledge and point out the transversal aspects: the denaturalization of the category women and femininity; the self-definition; the intersectional perspective; depathologization; the struggle against cissexism and racism and identity multiplicity. Focused on activists, researchers and professors, the text presents similarities and tensions between such knowledge production and some schools of feminist theory and black feminist thought.
