Musealization, art criticism, and the experimental exercise of freedom according to Mario Pedrosa

At least, since the last two decades of the twentieth century, much has been said about the accumulation and the collectionism of material culture in contemporary societies. Starting from the analysis of the work of Mario Pedrosa in the 1950s and from the contemporary production in art criticism, I have attempted to compare the profession by the time of its institutionalization in Brazil, and today, when it is said that the profession lost strength. In this sense, I have tried to understand how criticism is changing and thus directing the reception of Pedrosa's work.
