Domain ontologies enrichment: a systematic literature review

Abstract

This article presents a systematic review of the literature on the topic of domain ontologies enrichment for synthesize the main discussions. To this end, we use guidelines for systematic review, together with the use of Start software to manage and organize the 29 studies selected in five databases. The data collected allowed us to identify some features of published studies on ontology enrichment, such as sources of information used, types of enrichment most applied, types of information extraction techniques used, as well as the degree of detail of the methods for domain ontologies enrichment. We conclude that this investigation achieved its objective and that domain ontologies need to follow the dynamics of the phenomenon it represents, with the enrichment process being a direction for this.
