From Fundef to Fundeb: evaluating the past to think about the future: a case study in the municipality of Pirapozinho - SP

This article, which involves a combination of quantitative and qualitative procedures,provides survey results that examined the impact of Fundef in structuring the municipal school network of Pirapozinho-SP, and shows how these results provide subsidies to a more appropriate functioning of current policy education funding. It was found that,even without increasing the financial resources of school, Fundef rationalized and made more efficient implementation, reducing waste and diversion, and that the constitution of Fundef opened the possibility of deploying Fundeb currently in effect and that the improvement in their functioning is related to increased participation of society in the decisions of educational policy and investment in skills of such participation.
