Abstract
The study investigated concepts and practices of early education teachers regarding the promotion and/or inhibition of children's creativity. It was carried out in two private preschools in Brasilia with two teachers and their five to six years-old pupils. Data construction was based on direct observations, video records of activities planned by the teachers, and interviews. A microgenetic approach was used to analyze teacher-students interactions recorded in video, and an interpretive approach was used to analyze the interviews. Results reveal the inappropriateness of concepts and conceptualizations about creativity by the teachers, and how this had a negative impact over pedagogical practices oriented to foster creativity.
