Voltammetric analysis of the reactive dye based on anthraquinone using a screen printed carbon electrode

The reactive dye, C.I. Reactive Blue 4 (RB4), bearing anthraquinone groups as the chromophoric moiety and dichlorotriazine groups as reactive groups, can be detected at micromolar levels using a screen-printed carbon electrode under differential pulse voltammetric conditions. Linear calibration graphs were obtained for reactive dye, from 3.4 x 10-6 to 3.0 x 10-4 mol L-1 in KCl solution pH 1.0. The method was successfully applied to determination of hydrolysed RB4 dye monitoring the relative peak current intensities corresponding to reductive peaks attributed to the reactive group at -1.1 V (vs. printed carbon).
