Voltammetric determination of Cd and Pb using sulfonated polyaniline modified electrode

The electrochemical copolymerization of mixtures of aniline and 3-aminobenzenesulfonic acid monomers has been carried out by cyclic potencial sweep in sulfuric acid solution. The degree of polymerization increased with increasing acidity and aniline concentration in solution. Sulfonated polyaniline - mercury film coated electrodes have been evaluated for the analysis of trace metals by anodic stripping voltammetry. The detection limits for lead and cadmium were 6.96 and 15.3 nmol L-1, respectively. The modified electrode was used to determine metals in real environmental samples.
