An essay on the IV SEB: some possible readings

The aim of this essay on the seminar is to discuss the issue of inequality and consists of two parts: teacher appreciation (valuing teachers) and education funding. The analysis emphasized the tension between the vision of neoliberal politics and the democratic political culture. There is a reaffirmation of the basic rights of teachers and the indication of new political challenges the category will be confronted with. The evaluation of education funding faces several difficulties to advance, such as the tax reform and the question of social indicators. Much of the analysis is marked by criticism to technicist and mercantile traces in public policies however, there are significant avenues for democratic advances in relation to teacher appreciation and education funding.
