ABSTRACT
The objective of this research was to study the relations between Eucalyptus citriodora Hook essential oil content and the age of stand, season, trituration and maturation grade of leaves. Ten treatments were adopted, being used young and mature, triturated and not triturated leaves, coming of six months, 7 and 45 years old stands of Eucalyptus citriodora Hook, located in Universidade Federal Rural do Rio de Janeiro areas. Tests with the analysed materials demonstrated that higher essential oil content are obtained of mature leaves. Triturated leaves presented superior essential oil medium revenues and, without considering the genetic material origin, increase in age of trees caused slight increases in essential oil content. The best results were obtained of not triturated mature leaves coleted in autumn in comparison with not triturated mature leaves coleted in summer.
