Analyse of management challenges in two amazonian national parks with a local sight: PARNAS Montanhas do Tumucumaque and Cabo Orange.

Abstract

This paper has the objective to analyse the management challenges in two amazonian national parks - National Parks Montanhas de Tumucumaque and Cabo Orange, in the border area between Brazil and French Guiana, from the local perspective. The methodological approach was based on qualitative analysis, in order to make possible the understanding of the main subjectivities and tensions identified in management procedures from the perspective of institutional actors and local populations that inhabit the parks. The research stresses the importance of the local perspective for the realistic understanding of the management procedures in national parks and for the long lasting agreements directed to amzonian biodiversity conservation.
