Evaluation of Wood Charcoal from Five Species with Highest Natural Occurrence on the Furnas Lake Margin

ABSTRACT

This work evaluated the energetics potentialities of five species with highest natural occurrence on the Furnas Lake margin, in the Minas Gerais State. After dries destilations, charcoal yield and quality were measured. Amoreira (Chlorophora tinctoria) presents highest charcoal yield and ash concentrations. In relation to energetics factors, the Casca de Arroz (Miconia cinamomifolia) and the óleo de Copaiba (Copaifera langsdorffii) were the species which produced charcoal with better physics and chemistries properties.
