Practical negotiations and expert conditions: generalization of conditional cash transfers money

Abstract

Based on direct deliveries of money to poor households, conditional cash transfers (CCTS) have become the predominant social policies in Argentina and Latin America. Expert knowledge linked to the TMC to build a technical monopoly and morality on the transferred money, giving a clear definition to the conditionalities of the programs. Mainly include ownership of benefit in women, in order to address gender disparities and as more efficient in handling the money. Through the reconstruction of the budgets of recipient households of various CCTS, we will observe how the members organize their money building schemes of classification and assessment on the use of the same. We probe on how such schemes are constituted from the social constructions of gender and negotiations between the programmatic conditionality and social meanings that money in households.
