Yield of coriander cultivated with increasing nitrogen levels

The effect of different levels of nitrogen on coriander yield was evaluated at the Universidade Federal da Paraíba, in Areia, Brazil, from June to August/2001. The experimental design was of randomized blocks, with five nitrogen levels (0.0; 20; 40; 60 and 80 kg ha-1 of N), and four replications. The cv. Verdão was planted in spacing of 20 cm x 5.0 cm in plots of 2.0 m². Evaluations performed 50 days after sowing indicated that plant height increased linearly in proportion to the increase in doses of N. The maximum N level (80 kg ha-1) provided an increment of 17.4% in plant height in comparison to the control. Green mass yield increased linearly, as a function of N levels, with the maximum value of 5.4 kg m-2 using 80 kg ha-1 of N, corresponding to an increment of 62% in comparison to control (3.3 kg.m-2).
