Science, politics, and passion: the Carlos Chagas Filho archive

The text highlights the Carlos Chagas Filho archive as a rich source of information for studies of the history of science during the twentieth century. Using documents related to the institutions in which Carlos Chagas Filho was active (such as UNESCO and the Vatican's Pontifical Academy of Science) as well as those he helped create (like the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro's Biophysics Institute), the study uncovers facets of his trajectory, both within public policymaking in the field of development and in the effort to foster scientific practice in Brazil and abroad.
