CONTEXTS OF TRANSMISSION AND RECEPTION OF SCHOOL TEXTBOOKS: A MEANS OF METHODOLOGICAL PERFECTIONING

Abstract

The article presents a comprehensive review of the least studied areas of textbooks: the contexts of transmission and reception. The fact that textbooks are multi-contextualized has been evidenced by scholars. The consolidation of the research field and the need to evolve as a field of study has led to an effort in methodological refinement and to the exploration of those contexts in which the second phase of life of the textbook takes place. The contexts of transmission and reception are examined from the perspective of the actors and the sources involved. These aspects raise the issues and concepts of textual and contextual inference, intertextuality and the evidence of the need to work towards an interdisciplinary research approach when analysing textbooks.
