"Sometimes we are all Palestinians": The political use of the Palestine Question by Arab leaders at the second half of the XX century

This article discusses the transformation process of the so called "the Palestine Question" in a major element of the political discourse of Arab leaders in three countries: Egypt, Libya and Lebanon, from the second half of the twentieth century, emphasizing how the quest for regional leadership and international visibility during the Cold War converted the subject of the conflicts between Israel and Palestine in guiding principle of the rhetoric political agenda in the Arab countries. Based on these three specific scenarios, this paper analyzes the permanence of the conflict between Palestinians and Israelis as the main factor for the instability in the Middle East, considering the political use that each country attributed to this geopolitical problem.
