From the hands of the author to the eyes of the reader. A study on school books: "Pedrinho"- A Series of Guided Reading by Lourenço Filho (1950/1970)

An important part of scholarly practice, guided school books have become important elements for the use of both teachers and students, and represent a way to perform and practice teaching. The guided books herein under examination circulated between the decades 1950 and 1970, and were designated as "Pedrinho - A Series of Guided Reading", written by Professor Manuel Bergström Lourenço Filho. They were widely used in the State of Santa Catarina as readers. This article aims to examine within this collection of guided reading the characters who read, and the precepts related to the act of reading. The aim is to show clearly, within the groups of texts and images, the reading scenes that contributed to shaping reading and the printed material as icons of scholarly practice.
