Dilemmas on Health promotion in Brazil: considerations on the national policy

Health promotion, despite being a recurrent day-to-day theme, is a complex and multifaceted concept. The purpose of this article is to highlight some of the dilemmas and problematic aspects of the notions and ideas that concern this theme. It also emphasizes how difficult it is to think about the theme at hand without considering ways to eradicate the deep social iniquities of the Brazilian context. These considerations are developed in further depth within the scope of the National Health Promotion Policy instituted in 2006, showing the relevance of deconstructing politically correct discourses and the development of processes of reflection within our health-related practices.
