Team work in the PSF: investigating the technical articulation and interaction among professionals

Work in multi-professional teams is considered an important premise for the reorganization of the work process in the scope of the Family Health Program -PSF, seeking for an integral approach that is more efficient in resolving health problems. It implies in changes in the organization of work and in the patterns of individual and collective activity, lending support to a greater integration among the professionals and within the activities they carry out. This study analyzed the experience of a PSF team in a community in the State of Bahia, attempting to identify evidence of articulation between action and interaction among the professionals of that team directed towards the construction of a common health care project. Focus groups, participant observation and semi-structured interviews were the research techniques utilized in this study. The data disclosed the occurrence of articulations between the actions developed by different professionals, although there were some limitations. In terms of interaction directed towards the construction of a common project, one of the favorable aspects identified was the fact that different professionals partook of some decisions with respect to the dynamics of the unit. On the other hand, it was observed that planning actions tends to be an individual activity that is concentrated in the hands of professionals with higher education.
