The article analyzes the overall productivity, technical efficiency and technological change in total value of agricultural production of the municipalities of Ceará the period 1970-2006, we use the total productivity index and Malmquist model of stochastic frontier. It appears that the increase in investment can contribute to reducing technical inefficiencies in agriculture.
