Analyzing the structures for protected cultivation of vegetables used in the city of Santa Maria and region, it was found that most producers use artisan structures, often inappropriate to their needs, lacking of adequate industrial facilities. From this information, was designed a new structure for protected cultivation, demonstrating the promising role of design as a facilitator of local development.
