Imagination moves the city: the role of the Aldir Blanc Law in cultural and creative economy initiatives in Campo Grande, MS

Abstract

This article aimed to assess the impact of the Aldir Blanc Law (ABL) on cultural and creative economy initiatives in the city of Campo Grande, MS, during the covid-19 pandemic period. For that, it used bibliographic and documentary research focusing on the budgetary dimension of the law up to its actual implementation as an emergency public policy. Besides the budgetary dimension, the article categorizes the initiatives and sectors predominantly supported, as well as the impacts on the different projects chosen through a public call. The results show that the ABL, as an emergency cultural policy, was of fundamental importance in maintaining cultural and creative economy initiatives during the covid-19, particularly in 2020 and 2021.
