From History and class consciousness to The dialectic of enlightenment... and back

The publication of this polemic article is a Lua Nova homage to the eightieth year of Georg Lukács's History and Class Consciousness. Its author rescues the young Lukács, spotting the premisses and ideas that made this book not so much philosophically, but politically, a revolutionary accomplishment, in tune with the ''Event of 1917'' in Russia. Zizek thinks that it is precisely its political content, which points to a radical critique of the liberal-democratic regimes prevailing in the West, that keeps its importance in our time, in this sense overcoming the limits that the authors of The Dialectic of Enlightenment imposed to themselves.
