The article discusses the concept of representation in Carl Schmitt's political-juridical work, with special reference to Roman Catholicism and Political Form, published in 1923. It focuses Schmitt's opposition between the modern technical rationality and the juridical rationality (whose most finished expression is found in the idea of representation). Then it relates the issues connected to the problem of political representation with some of Schmitt's main subjects, such as sovereingty, decision and "the political".
