Can a liberal support the subvention for the arts?

For some contemporary liberal theorists, John Rawls among them, a liberal-democratic state outght to abstain from "perfectionist"'conceptions - that is, judgements about the intrinsic value of persons, activities, and conceptions of the good - as a basis for its actions. This idea of u perfectionist neutrality" is examined regarding state actions aiming at the promotion of artistic excelence.
