BODY ASSEMBLAGE IN REFLECTIVE MODERNITY: NOTES AND EXCERPTS FROM ANTHONY GIDDENS

Abstract

This article discusses body assemblage in reflexive modernity based on the theory of British sociologist Anthony Giddens. It is guided by interconnection between the concepts of self-identity and reflexivity developed in the author’s works. The reflections resulting from the theoretical analysis lead us to understand the process of building and sustaining the “biographical narrative of the self” as a project related to body reflexivity and aimed at offering and extending agents’ margin of ontological security in the context of late modernity.
