Cryptonympha dasilvai sp. nov. (Ephemeroptera: Baetidae) from Brazil

Cryptonympha dasilvai sp. n. is described based on nymphs collected from the states of Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, southeastern Brazil. The new species is distinguished from C. copiosa Lugo-Ortiz & McCafferty, the other species of the genus, by the: labrum not narrowly rounded anteriorly; prostheca of left mandible without a long, robust and pilose seta; second segment of labial palp with short distomedial process; vestiges of hind wing pads; claws with two rows of denticles; abdominal color pattern; and number of spines in the paraprocts. The genus is for the first time recorded from the Rio de Janeiro State.
