A democracia do público reconsiderada

The author updates and clarifies his analyzes of the democracy of the public in the light of recent research, revisiting the issues of the erosion of partisan loyalties, the role of political parties in contemporary democracies and the increase in non-institutionalized political participation, suggesting that representative democracy is not inconsistent with some measure of direct citizen direct influence over policy-making.
