Approximations between Michel Foucault and the Frankfurt School: for a radical post-critical perspective to organizational studies

Abstract

The purpose of this article is to determine a theoretical and methodological change in the field of organizational studies with the proposition of a radical post-critical approach. Initially, we verified how post-critical theories are debated in Education, using these references to construct a radical post-critical approach based on dialogue between Michel Foucault and the Frankfurt School and on the concept of “critical radicalization” which approaches theory and praxis. Next, we explore the similarities between the Foucaultian and Frankfurtian perspectives, closing their approaches and dialogue. Afterwards, we deepen the articulation between these two perspectives, problematizing the notions of subject, “critical radicalization”, and praxis. Lastly, we present possibilities for adopting a radical post-critical approach in organizational studies, formulating an initial theoretical, ontological, analytical and methodological framework, as well as its implications from the point of view of praxis. In the final considerations, we emphasize that this approach is under construction, being open for contributions and debate.
