Social representation of the roles of managers of non-governmental organization

The article describes the dimensions of social management from the little knowledge that managers of non-governmental organizations elaborate concerning the role that they play. The research used the qualitative approach from the analysis of category content and theoretical reference established in the Theory of the Social Representation, in an attempt to disclose intra-individual, Inter-individual and situations processes, under the form of systems of beliefs, values, symbols and histories. These give sense to the existence of the studied organizations interpretations of the managers. The analysis of the results reveals the diverse strategies of the managers in the running of the organizations, where the style of the action is mediated by the face of the leader. We see that professional formation and aspects related to the social insertion of the manager are crucial in the description of the social representations. We conclude that the roles of the managers appear to be anchored in the proper insights linked to the mission and organizational goals, giving Social Management a contingencial dynamic shape.
