Considering the interdisciplinary nature of organizational studies, the present text gathers reflections about the contributions of the Psychology to the understanding of the vi organization psychosocial dimension. More specifically, its concentrates on the presentation of the cognitive approach in Psychology and in Social Psychology, highlighting its relevance and impact on the conceptualization and study of the processes that constitute the organization. Two important concepts in the tradition of cognitive studies are applied to organizations: the cognitive schemas and the cognitive maps. It is assumed that the growing interface between the studies of cognition and organization creates perspectives heuristics for the understanding and handling of the processes of organizing.
