IAC-2028: new castor bean cultivar

The new castor bean cultivar, named IAC-2028, obtained by hybridization between the inbred lines L881 e H34 was selected by the pedigree method. The cultivar IAC-2028, indicated for cultivation in Sao Paulo State, showed: low height (150-180 cm); indehiscent fruits, moderate susceptibility to diseases, specifically to gray mould; 47% oil content e medium maturity (150-180 days). In the experimentation over four years, IAC-2028 presented a grain yield average of 2,000 kg ha-1.
