The development of the scientific psychology, starting with W. James, evolves the issue of the mind and the consciousness. Behaviorism refused the consciousness as scientific subject; the recent advances of Cognitive Science and Neuroscience develop its functional aspects. The present challenge is to consider the relationship between subjective experience and the physical processes of the brain.
