Jobs on the Web for Brazilian professionals on information and-documentation: analysis of competencies and skills required by companies and institutions

The characteristics of employment offers in the Information-Documentation segment are analyzed. The sample was obtained from advertisements of Brazilian companies and private institutions in the Internet during the year 2010. The activity was part of a larger research which has as its main objective the construction of a taxonomy to classify and hierarchy the competences and knowledge demanded by the companies, as well as the characteristics of the offered positions. The information was extracted from 200 job offerings obtained in the portals Catho: http://www.catho.com.br/ and Portal do bibliotecário: http://www.portalbibliotecario.com.br/. Each entry was maintained in its incidence context and with its original expression. The terms passed by a standardization process. The analysis answers to the following classifications: more demanded activities, knowledge and tasks, aptitudes, competences and abilities, besides the incidence of units and of information professionals.
