Picturebook: text, image and mediation

ABSTRACT

The picturebook opens the possibility of a dialogue between text and image, enhancing the reading experience. The purpose of this article is to provide theoretical support to assist the librarian in his literary reading, mediation activities with young readers, particularly paying attention to the child picturebook. Considerations are made about children's literature and the differences between the picturebook and the book with illustrations. Exemplifies with a brief review of two books of contemporary Brazilian production. We emphasize the librarian's role using this rich material in their literary reading mediation activities.
