Professional analysis of choice: an existential-phenomenological proposal

This article has the objective to show the possibility of a psychology activity, formerly called vocational guidance (OV), be held from the perspective of existential-phenomenological perspective. This activity receives the nomenclature of professional analysis of choice (AEP). Two terms present in the AEP are analysis and choice, that replace the terms orientation and vocation in vocational guidance. This practice aims to determine the character of the choice of vocation, and of an action that gives the student orientation on the truth about the decision to make. The terms analysis and choice are especially important to identify our proposal, that is based on phenomenology, hermeneutics and philosophy of life. The practice of the professional analysis of choice will be reported through the fragments of clinical reports. Finally, we present some excerpts from Rilke’s “Letters to a Young Poet” in order to show elements of an analysis that is very close to the one we propose.
