The meaning and the sense of the student’s dwellings by young college students and the inclusion-exclusion dialetic

The purpose of this article is to discuss the relationship between the meanings and the senses (Vigotski, 2001) of the student dwellers, young college students, from their point of view, as well as to investigate the processes of inclusion and exclusion they experienced. The research was accomplished with dwellers of the student dwelling of Goiânia-GO, making use of the following procedures: questions applied to the dwellers, reading of papers related to the student dwelling, focal groups and direct observation in the student dwelling during the visits to the dwellers. The results show that the meanings given by the student dweller tend to give value to and to elevate the experience of being a dweller, and that meanings that come from singular expressions indicate that the student dwelling is experienced as a sacrifice and suffering by the students. By means of the exclusion-inclusion dialectic (Sawaia, 2001), such contradiction was analyzed.
