Psicologia e ética em cuidados paliativos

The creation of care centers with a humanistic feature and a focus on the control of pain and symptoms is intended to provide terminal patients and family members with a better quality of life. The importance of allowing for a more humane death with no prolonged processes is the opportunity for the patient to face death with more dignity. All the medical team has their role of importance in this process. Psychology has its part mainly because it concerns the human being at their innermost and the work of a psychologist is essential in helping the patient, the family and the medical team in the search of a better balance in their inner life and their acceptance of reality.
